Wonderful little family owned Italian Restaurant that prides itself on great service and the food is very good. Try the Penne a la Vodka, it is great. The salads and bread are great also. Large portions that leave you enough to take home for a snack later. It is the type of place that every time you go there you see the same people, I think some old Italian couples eat there every night.

Very cosy little Italian place off Dania Beach Blvd. The atmosphere is really quiet and laid back and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken parm and my husband had the spicy shrimp. Both were great. The waitress gave us a house salad and fish appetizer on the house which was very nice. It seems more like your at someone's house then a restaurant which is a great compliment. Home cooked food leaves you feeling more then just full.

Stuck back in an obscure corner section of a Dania strip mall is Mundi, which is traditional sort old time mom & pop Italian restaurant. Indeed it is everything you might think that an old time mom & pop Italian restaurant might be. It has the super friendly service that puts you at ease, sort of make you feel like an Italian family member, and custom prepared from the ground on up food with a home cook touch about it. The menu is complete, rather typical of Italian restaurants but each dish possessed of a unique custom or untypical twist in its preparation. The patron crowd is elderly and indeed, at my ripe age of 70, I found myself, with exception of the wait staff, to be the "spring chicken" of the crowd. The background music is also somewhat untypical and unexpected in that it was all big band late 30's and early 40's music without any of that Hoboken Sinatra or Stubenville Martin crap so typically used as the background music in other Italian restaurants. I started off with Mundi's Special Calamari ($11.95) which was sliced ring breaded calamari that had been fried then tossed together with pickled pepper and black olives. It came served in large portion heaped on top of a piece of bread, was spicy, tasty and indeed of unique preparation. After having their house salad with in house vinaigrette dressing I went for the Veal Francese ($19.95) which came with four good size portions of battered...I thought somewhat overly breaded...anything but the menu mentioned "light" battering...pounded tender portions of veal along with a of what I would discern to be a cheese like, near alfredo sauced spaghetti. Then as a surprise treat on house, I was given a small bowl containing three delicious tasting fried dough like balls of zappole, though I'm not sure what they may term them to be, dusted with powdered sugar that I've only had once before when traveling Villa Petto, Italy, and to my delight, equally as good.

Food quality is very good and people who serve you are real nice Only complaint is they don't have a lot of options on fish since the only thing they serve on the regular menu is tilapia. They have daily specials but you need to get there early, as they often run out of them. The broccoli pasta they make is good but I would prefer it with a little less oil. I found their chicken marsala sauce to be a little too sweet for my taste. However their red sauce is very good and would definitely not stop me from going back. I like the fact that they are a small restaurant and featuring daily specials. A clear choice over many of the big box so called Italian restaurants. I'll be back soon and I constantly recommend people to try it.

In a seemingly deserted unassuming shopping center anchored by a Winn-Dixie lies Mundi's. Mundi's may be a time machine of sorts because when you walk in you are taken to a time where all restaurants were family owned. The green checkered tablecloths, pictures of friends and family and Italian paraphernalia are all over the walls and it is obvious the staff are all related. Then you open the menu and you see all the staples of an Italian restaurant. Don't get too distracted by the menu because you don't want to give your tablemate too much time to swipe all the bread and delicious olive oil that's brought to your table. So far I've sampled the calamari, fiocchi, and chicken parm. All have been fantastic! They also bring zeppoles to the table at the end of your meal so they have basically solidified themselves as our new go-to Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. They also serve as a remind that, while Dania is a touristy town the food can be good!

Four of us dined at this tiny restaurant located in a strip mall in Dania Beach on a Saturday night and we were treated like family with great food and excellent service. I called to make a reservation from home and one of the owners took my name and told me she looked forward to having us dine at the restaurant. Mundi's is one of those places that looks very plain on the outside but serves food that outshines its location and decor. This is food that could be served in New York City and would receive excellent reviews. All of us had the unlimited salad with the very tasty Italian (home made) dressing. Then three of us had the red snapper specials with pasta or spinach. One had a special chicken dish with mushrooms and tomatoes. The seasoning and the sauces were superb. The portions were large and nicely priced for the quality and quantity of the food. We all said that this was a great meal. The owner remembered me and said she was happy we could come to her restaurant. If I returned to Dania Beach I would eat there as it's just Good food served by super nice people.

Great food and friendly service. It's a small, family establishment. They seem to get to know their customers and make it feel welcoming. Location is easy to pass if you aren't looking out for it, but definitely a good find. I've been several times and plan on going back again soon. Ask about specials, but if none of the specials are what you are craving, try Pasta Anna...one of my favorite dishes. Everything is made to order.

Overpriced, overrated, food uncreatively presented. Recommended by accompanying relative who reserved the establishment for the group of 35 plus... Service Family style... 1) Salad in large family style bowls, usual, served with cold crusty bread, butter, and choice of two dressings. 2) Overcooked mussels in a marinara sauce, a large percentage of the mussels were missing from the shells...Family style 3) Meatballs in a red sauce, balls had too much filler...Where's the meat? Family style 4) Ziti in red sauce. Usual at least it was aldente. Family style 5) Linguine in a white clam sauce. Usual. Where was the garlic and cheese grated over the top? Family style. 6) Finally the dessert. Best part of the meal. Strawberry whipped cream cake, very fresh not too sweet. They said they made it. Sheet cake for one of our group. 7) The bill! All I can say is YIKES! Included room fee and tips. I would have paid less at Shulas with drinks.. Noise level loud! No conversation or catching up there. Sure OK I guess for neighborhood locals, not for out of towners who know good Italian...

Salad dressing- amazing! Bread- meh Service- absolutely horrendous, took over an hour to be served our food from the time we ordered. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and my wife ordered chicken marsala with a side of garlic spinach. Everything was "meh", as in not terrible but I've had better and won't be returning. The marsala sauce was bland and much too sweet. The portion of chicken was quite skimpy, especially for the price. The garlic spinach was bland at best. I have a feeling the owner could see my wife's dissatisfaction because he approached her and told her the spinach was better with sausage. He took the spinach away and brought it back with sausage crumbles. After adding a little salt and grated Parmesan cheese, it was pretty good. The spaghetti and meatballs were ok but the spaghetti was boiled far too long and tasted like soup noodles. The meatballs and meat sauce were acceptable but were salty. I understand that it was a busy night due to Mother's Day the next day, and it might be better on another night. However, due to the mediocre food, slow service, and high price, we will not be returning to find out. The bill was $45 for: Chicken Marsala with spinach Spegetti and meatballs 1 iced tea TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! Amex not accepted :( *Update* Catherine P, I don't want the spinach to dance on tables, I just want it to taste at least half-way decent. Just because you had a relative come from Italy, generations ago, this doesn't make you an expert on Italian food. With only one review to your name, I can only assume that you work for the establishment.

I was recommended to Mundi's by friends who said it was delicious. One evening we decided to take them up on the recommendation and we went to Mundi's, looking at the menu I was surprised I didn't see lasagna. I didn't question, I just ordered eggplant parmesan my other favorite Italian meal. It was unlike any other eggplant parmesan I had ever ordered it was served more like a sirloin with delicious browned melted cheese on top. It came with a side of pasta with marinara sauce and from the first bite I was lost it was so delicious, better than I had ever had before. Oh and the meatballs and ricotta...Indescribable...Yummm! Upon settling our check, I decided to ask why isn't there a lasagna on your menu? Our server politely said... we make it from scratch and serve it fresh as a special. I waited a week and called up and said I was coming, "Is lasagna on special?" They said yes...when I got there I must say it was worth the wait! The portion was amazing and the flavor was divine. I had it for lunch the next day too! This is a family owned restaurant and everyone is so helpful and goes the extra mile to make the experience wonderful. This is definitely one of our go to places from now on.

The salad dressing a homemade Italian vingererrte is amazing. I want the recipe ! I ordered the broccoli with penne and added chicken. Really nice portion came with bread, and a salad for $18. This place is a real gem! It's a quaint, little, very homey kind of restaurant with old fashioned decor and values. My friend and I frequent the Chinese place next door and though, why not? Were both very, very glad we decided to try it. I had chicken marsala with a side of Ziti and extra marsala sauce, my friend had mahi francesa. We both loved our meals! The portions were very fair, the meat/fish were cooked perfectly and they even started us with bread and salad before we ordered. It's not often you find an old fashioned restaurant that makes their own bread and salad dressing without having to pay more for the meal. It was very fairly priced and the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. I will definitely be coming to this place again and certainly will be recommending it to friends. If you're in the area and in the mood for high end Italian at mid level pricing check this place out!

Had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo it was delicious, being from Jersey, I've had good Fra Diavolo. This was as good as any I've ever had. My friend had a pork chop special that was excellent as well. There are few places in Florida for good Italian food, this is definitely one of them. The atmosphere was very family like and incredibly attentive, the ladies circled around the dining room making sure everyone was taken care of. I highly recommend this place.

Whenever I travel to SoFla there are only two things I have to do. Seeing friends and family and going to Mundi's. Mundi's is tucked in the corner of a Publix shopping center about a mile from Ft Lauderdale airport (perfect if you have a couple of hours layover) and as an aficionado of authentic Italian cuisine you cannot do better. Sunday night we started with a nice Tuscan red, reasonably priced along with mussels in white wine sauce. They were medium-large sized and seasoned to taste. Friend is a red sauce kind of guy but he loved them as well. Dinner was daily special (they had three that night) chicken scarpariello (deboned). We shared a massive plate and it was the best I ever had which is pretty much what happens every time I go there. The staff are family and the service is excellent. I'm almost hesitant to post this because I like to keep these finds to a small circle but you cannot go wrong at Mundi's. Eat slow and enjoy!

I was pleasantly surprised how amazing it was as I expected your generic out of the box vino. What a way to start dinner! Both dishes were flavorful & plentiful. Mundi's is old school New York Italian. The place is small, yet rustic. Will Mundi is both the owner and the chef. The food was amazing and wonderfully comforting: freshly baked Italian bread, complimentary salad with homemade Italian dressing and picked peppers. Our party of five ordered his original calamari with what tasted like Buffalo Sauce and olives. Must have! I had clam with white sauce that tasted just like the ocean. The owner ended us with homemade zeppolas- Italian donuts. Go there often and he'll do the same once he recognizes you. He made sure I was stuffed to the brim! One of the best customer service I've ever gotten. Must go back!

If only... Mundi's could have a good rating. The food was pretty darned good. Yes, it's the same Italian menu you get at about every Italian place you go to, but the execution is spot on for a place that wants to serve home cooked style meals. The atmosphere is warm and again, like eating in someone's home. But the service is just not there. The place is small, but more than the one person handling orders on our visit could manage. The result - long waits for everything. I ordered a glass of wine and was never asked if I wanted another. No one ever asked if the food was good once they dropped it off at the table (it was good). No offer for dessert. Alas, to knock down a place that has good food and nice ambiance is a shame, but without good service I can't recommend a restaurant.

I feel truly horrible since I really did want to love Mundi's. The location is hidden is the corner or a shopping center, which has frequently led to the find of a spectacular hole-in-the-wall. We came on a weeknight for my mother's birthday dinner, and the dining area was filled with locals, a great sign. The staff made the rounds, greeting everyone and making an effort to make them feel like part of the family. Red and white checkered tablecloths, lots of festive art work, ivy dotted trellises, it was the epitome of your stereotypical Italian restaurant. As soon as we were seated they brought out a generous portion of thick, crusty bread and a plate of olive oil blanketed by Parmesan cheese. I haven't seen this done very often at authentic restaurants, but I must say it made for a welcome addition as the soft inner portion of each slice sopped it up scrumptiously. They also left a bottle of red wine on each table when you entered, perhaps in an attempt to entice you. Unfortunately that was pretty much where my excitement ran out. The menu felt VERY Americanized, with calamari, mozzarella sticks and Caesar salad rounding out the appetizers. The pasta menu was fairly basic variations on spaghetti and penne, served with a red, white or pink sauce, plus a baked ziti and cheese ravioli option. No gnocchi, no carbonara, no lasagna, no risotto. I am still hoping their pastas are actually homemade, but unfortunately that wasn't the impression I had, nor did this change upon actually seeing the dishes in person. Not bad, just overpriced for what it was, a dish that even the most unskilled cook could have managed themselves with a quick trip to the market for a box of Barilla and jar of Ragu. I've dated Italian men that have difficulty boiling water but I dare say even they could have figured out how to make these dishes. Chicken Piccata, Chicken Francese, Chicken Marsala...the rest of the menu didn't exactly pique my interest either. Again it just felt like a restaurant trying to offer what they thought Italian should be, rather than to use authentic family recipes passed down through the generations. I'm not saying you can't find these things in Italy, but even the basic dishes there were made in such a way that you could feel the passion for cooking. I went with the eggplant parm, and asked for the rosa sauce rather than the tomato since the menu had described it as an old family recipe seasoned with fresh basil. IMO fresh basil can salvage even the most banal dish, and I was really excited to try it. The waitress told me this wouldn't be a problem and put the order in. I tried to get a side salad in lieu of pasta but was told that wasn't an option but I could purchase an additional salad. I wasn't too hungry so just went with it as it was. However, when the dish came out with a red sauce, I inquired again about the rosa. I don't know if it was just a miscommunication or what but the guy just kind of shook his head, said no problem and walked away without changing anything. After about 15 minutes, I gave up and dug in. The eggplant was fine but a bit mushy. It was smothered in gooey cheese though, which makes everything taste a significantly better. Alongside the main, I got a heaping portion of spaghetti topped in more red sauce. It wasn't bad but again nothing I couldn't easily make with a store-bought variety. I do have to say though, my mom's selection of Tilapia Ala Chef Will (a mild white fish sauteed and topped with a garlic shrimp sauce, seasoned with sun-dried tomatoes and basil served over penne pasta) was a slight improvement. The penne still tasted like the boxed variety and the fish was redolent of that tinny twang you get when a fish isn't incredibly fresh, but the sauce at least seemed to have been made to order, and it was flavorful and delicious. The portions of everything were so large that we all had plenty of leftovers. This may be one of the only times I'll say this, bigger is not always better. Buffering a mediocre quality entree with a huge mound of filling spaghetti hardly a decent meal makes. I really did love the staff and their courteous and helpful attitude, I just wish I hadn't felt so underwhelmed by the actual food. Please don't mistake my opinions as absolute fact, I have no concrete evidence that the penne and spaghetti aren't made in house. That being said, I just didn't get that authentic or unique flavor that made me want to rush back or sing its praises.

Looking for a good place for pizza one night for take out. Looked at there website through the yelp link and the food and reviews looked good. So we decided to give it a try. We called them up and found out they don't do pizza anymore . What type of Italian restaurant does not do pizza? And had an expired link on there google search website. We said forget it after that. Come on I have never seen an an Italian restaurant without pizza. Maybe we would give this a try later but this was a definite turnoff

Incredible homemade Italian. Even better service First off, shame on me for not providing this review sooner. We were traveling from Jamaica to California on 9/11/13 and found Mundi's on yelp as we had some time to kill before our next flight and we did not want airport food. The reviews were good so we hopped in a cab for the short 1.3 mile drive. We had a horrible experience with the cabbie so we hopped out and managed to walk to Mundi's suitcase in tow. We arrived at this point not so happy and with little expectations for the dinner. WOW were we surprised. We told the owner about our 45 minute ride costing over $20 for the 1 mile journey and not only did she show concern and disappointment about the situation but she renewed our faith in this community. She contacted the cab company and like a protective mother "tore them a new one". The Mayor should proclaim a Mundi's saved our tourism day! The owner told us not to worry they will arrange for our return taxi no problem. So we relaxed and ordered dinner. Already experiencing fantastic service this far, we were blown away with how incredible the food was. Eggplant and shrimp parm. Outstanding! Although the food can speak for itself and deserves a 5 star review on its own the level of service was amazing. So after dinner we are waiting for the taxi. You guessed it no taxi. So what does the restaurant do? Owner and chef takes off his cooking apron and tosses our suitcase and the four of us in his car and drives us to the airport where we were able to make it onto our flight home. You can't make up experiences like this and you can't train true care for your customers like we experienced. We feel like extended family. The four of us thank you and we can't wait to return. We will always go there when in town. Have you thought about a second location in California?

Stopped in for dinner tonight while traveling - I wish we had a cozy Italian spot like this near our home in Atlanta! Everything was freshly made and fantastic, and the price was very reasonable. I'd make a special trip to eat here again next time I'm near Port Everglades I liked it so much. We started with the clams appetizer in a garlic wine sauce and it was extremely tender and succulent - everybody at the table just dug right in. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and I could tell from the moment my plate arrived that these were freshly prepared and cooked. I've made my own meatballs at home for decades and these were easily as good as any I've ever done. My father-in-law had the special spicy shrimp and sausage and it was very tasty - we both left our plates cleaned. For dessert they had a homemade ricotta cheesecake that was fluffy and wonderful - a perfect ending to one of the best Italian meals I've had in years. Perfect example of a hole-in-the-wall with amazing food.

tucked away in the winn dixie shopping center, this family owned Italian restaurant serves up creative Italian fare, pizza and salads all fresh and reasonably priced. the pasta anna - a house special has just the right amount of zest, topped with shrimp or sausage or chicken; appetizers (we like having a pizza as a starter, and house salad with the entree and a carafe of house wine. the wonderful staff usually serves fresh zeppoles gratis with the order of espresso; Really nothing fancy about the place or food, it's just very good, ambiamce is chatrming and one feels like family when dining there. We went on YELP on Friday night to search for a local Italian place in Dania Beach. We read the reviews and decided to try Mundi's. Well, we had a terrific time. All tables were taken. The owner greeted us at the door with his white apron on. He explained it would be a few minutes. After 5 minutes he invited us back to his small bar area and served us some of his house wine, which was pretty good. He engaged us in conversation, and was really into the discussion. We sat down about 15 minutes later and went on to enjoy a very good dinner. The service was terrific. The prices very reasonable. We will be going back....I highly recommend this place.

Whoever wrote that negative review to bring down the stars must not have taste buds because Mundi's has to be one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. It was located in a shopping center which originally threw me off but as soon as I sat down and saw the menu I knew it was going to be a great experience. It is family owned and operated so they're extremely hospitable and will really make you whatever you want and the menu acts as a guide. The food was amazing and there were so many options (for everyone from my 12 year old sister to my grandparents.) It's a checkerboard table cloth, authentic Italian restaurant run by actual Italians which is rare to see in South Florida. Since It's in Dania Beach and nobody really vacations there, it was all locals. What really made me love it, though was that the waitress was extremely chatty and it was almost like eating dinner at a friend's house but they were waiting on you; something I had never experienced in Florida before. There are so many restaurants in the area just out to take your money and this was the opposite experience of eating at any of those. Expensive but worth it!

Wonderful, fresh food with friendly attentive service. We called at 645 on a Saturday night, looking for a table for 4 and they couldn't have been nicer. The server recommended the eggplant parm, which was to die for, fresh, firm, flavorful. The cheese and pear filled pasta was also sublime. They treated our young children like princesses, and within half an hour of when we sat down, the place was completely full, apparently with regulars. The food was little Italy, not Italy Italy, but you won't care.

Awesome! My future brother in law took me here as for a celebratory dinner. My first impression of the place was "cozy, family owned restaurant" and that is exactly what it was. It seemed like everyone dining there knew everyone else and the owner and his wife were constantly making rounds asking how things were. I do not normally eat Italian food and wasnt sure what I was in the mood for. How did I decide? Well the owner sat down next to me and started firing away foods that he figured I might like in order to gauge my taste and in the end recommended clams and shrimp in a spicy sauce over pasta. This wasnt even on the menu and he simply made it to please me!! Amazing! To start we got the bread and olive oil which I believe is standard and ordered a side of mushrooms which were awesome. We shared a bottle of wine (recommended by the owner) which was great and complimented our dinner perfectly. I cannot wait to go back to try the caldo. I totally recommend this place. A++

The Mussels in red and white wine sauce are an absolute dream, and if you excuse the pretentiousness, reminds me of the Island of Capris in Italy. The owner/chef is from New York and very very friendly and spends his time making sure you're all having a good time. The spicy sausage and shrimp pasta dish is a dream Service is great and they're great with kids.

I have been on an Italian kick lately and this definitely hit the spot! Don't let the location scare you off as the shopping center is a bit outdated and not very appealing to the eye. The inside of Mundi's is a whole different story! This place is the definition of a mom and pop shop. It is very cozy with not very many tables and the owners are always there to greet you and chat. You can't ask for better service. Everyone here treats you like family. The food is excellent! The pasta is fresh and delicious and all dishes come with a salad (homemade dressing - yum!) and fresh baked bread. The Penne alla vodka sauce is to die for - I added the chicken but could have easily just eaten it with the pasta and been completely satisfied. So good! This is the perfect spot for a family style dinner or even a cute date night. I highly recommend!

Wonderful little family owned Italian Restaurant that prides itself on great service and the food is very good. Try the Penne a la Vodka, it is great. The salads and bread are great also. Large portions that leave you enough to take home for a snack later. It is the type of place that every time you go there you see the same people, I think some old Italian couples eat there every night.

Very cosy little Italian place off Dania Beach Blvd. The atmosphere is really quiet and laid back and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken parm and my husband had the spicy shrimp. Both were great. The waitress gave us a house salad and fish appetizer on the house which was very nice. It seems more like your at someone's house then a restaurant which is a great compliment. Home cooked food leaves you feeling more then just full.

Stuck back in an obscure corner section of a Dania strip mall is Mundi, which is traditional sort old time mom & pop Italian restaurant. Indeed it is everything you might think that an old time mom & pop Italian restaurant might be. It has the super friendly service that puts you at ease, sort of make you feel like an Italian family member, and custom prepared from the ground on up food with a home cook touch about it. The menu is complete, rather typical of Italian restaurants but each dish possessed of a unique custom or untypical twist in its preparation. The patron crowd is elderly and indeed, at my ripe age of 70, I found myself, with exception of the wait staff, to be the "spring chicken" of the crowd. The background music is also somewhat untypical and unexpected in that it was all big band late 30's and early 40's music without any of that Hoboken Sinatra or Stubenville Martin crap so typically used as the background music in other Italian restaurants. I started off with Mundi's Special Calamari ($11.95) which was sliced ring breaded calamari that had been fried then tossed together with pickled pepper and black olives. It came served in large portion heaped on top of a piece of bread, was spicy, tasty and indeed of unique preparation. After having their house salad with in house vinaigrette dressing I went for the Veal Francese ($19.95) which came with four good size portions of battered...I thought somewhat overly breaded...anything but the menu mentioned "light" battering...pounded tender portions of veal along with a of what I would discern to be a cheese like, near alfredo sauced spaghetti. Then as a surprise treat on house, I was given a small bowl containing three delicious tasting fried dough like balls of zappole, though I'm not sure what they may term them to be, dusted with powdered sugar that I've only had once before when traveling Villa Petto, Italy, and to my delight, equally as good.

Great atmosphere great people. Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. My wife loves the mussels and the red sauce, she raves about it. Food quality is very good and people who serve you are real nice Only complaint is they don't have a lot of options on fish since the only thing they serve on the regular menu is tilapia. They have daily specials but you need to get there early, as they often run out of them. The broccoli pasta they make is good but I would prefer it with a little less oil. I found their chicken marsala sauce to be a little too sweet for my taste. However their red sauce is very good and would definitely not stop me from going back. I like the fact that they are a small restaurant and featuring daily specials. A clear choice over many of the big box so called Italian restaurants. I'll be back soon and I constantly recommend people to try it.

In a seemingly deserted unassuming shopping center anchored by a Winn-Dixie lies Mundi's. Mundi's may be a time machine of sorts because when you walk in you are taken to a time where all restaurants were family owned. The green checkered tablecloths, pictures of friends and family and Italian paraphernalia are all over the walls and it is obvious the staff are all related. Then you open the menu and you see all the staples of an Italian restaurant. Don't get too distracted by the menu because you don't want to give your tablemate too much time to swipe all the bread and delicious olive oil that's brought to your table. So far I've sampled the calamari, fiocchi, and chicken parm. All have been fantastic! They also bring zeppoles to the table at the end of your meal so they have basically solidified themselves as our new go-to Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. They also serve as a remind that, while Dania is a touristy town the food can be good!

Four of us dined at this tiny restaurant located in a strip mall in Dania Beach on a Saturday night and we were treated like family with great food and excellent service. I called to make a reservation from home and one of the owners took my name and told me she looked forward to having us dine at the restaurant. Mundi's is one of those places that looks very plain on the outside but serves food that outshines its location and decor. This is food that could be served in New York City and would receive excellent reviews. All of us had the unlimited salad with the very tasty Italian (home made) dressing. Then three of us had the red snapper specials with pasta or spinach. One had a special chicken dish with mushrooms and tomatoes. The seasoning and the sauces were superb. The portions were large and nicely priced for the quality and quantity of the food. We all said that this was a great meal. The owner remembered me and said she was happy we could come to her restaurant. If I returned to Dania Beach I would eat there as it's just Good food served by super nice people.

Great food and friendly service. It's a small, family establishment. They seem to get to know their customers and make it feel welcoming. Location is easy to pass if you aren't looking out for it, but definitely a good find. I've been several times and plan on going back again soon. Ask about specials, but if none of the specials are what you are craving, try Pasta Anna...one of my favorite dishes. Everything is made to order.

Overpriced, overrated, food uncreatively presented. Recommended by accompanying relative who reserved the establishment for the group of 35 plus... Service Family style... 1) Salad in large family style bowls, usual, served with cold crusty bread, butter, and choice of two dressings. 2) Overcooked mussels in a marinara sauce, a large percentage of the mussels were missing from the shells...Family style 3) Meatballs in a red sauce, balls had too much filler...Where's the meat? Family style 4) Ziti in red sauce. Usual at least it was aldente. Family style 5) Linguine in a white clam sauce. Usual. Where was the garlic and cheese grated over the top? Family style. 6) Finally the dessert. Best part of the meal. Strawberry whipped cream cake, very fresh not too sweet. They said they made it. Sheet cake for one of our group. 7) The bill! All I can say is YIKES! Included room fee and tips. I would have paid less at Shulas with drinks.. Noise level loud! No conversation or catching up there. Sure OK I guess for neighborhood locals, not for out of towners who know good Italian...

Salad dressing- amazing! Bread- meh Service- absolutely horrendous, took over an hour to be served our food from the time we ordered. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and my wife ordered chicken marsala with a side of garlic spinach. Everything was "meh", as in not terrible but I've had better and won't be returning. The marsala sauce was bland and much too sweet. The portion of chicken was quite skimpy, especially for the price. The garlic spinach was bland at best. I have a feeling the owner could see my wife's dissatisfaction because he approached her and told her the spinach was better with sausage. He took the spinach away and brought it back with sausage crumbles. After adding a little salt and grated Parmesan cheese, it was pretty good. The spaghetti and meatballs were ok but the spaghetti was boiled far too long and tasted like soup noodles. The meatballs and meat sauce were acceptable but were salty. I understand that it was a busy night due to Mother's Day the next day, and it might be better on another night. However, due to the mediocre food, slow service, and high price, we will not be returning to find out. The bill was $45 for: Chicken Marsala with spinach Spegetti and meatballs 1 iced tea TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! Amex not accepted :( *Update* Catherine P, I don't want the spinach to dance on tables, I just want it to taste at least half-way decent. Just because you had a relative come from Italy, generations ago, this doesn't make you an expert on Italian food. I was recommended to Mundi's by friends who said it was delicious. One evening we decided to take them up on the recommendation and we went to Mundi's, looking at the menu I was surprised I didn't see lasagna. I didn't question, I just ordered eggplant parmesan my other favorite Italian meal. It was unlike any other eggplant parmesan I had ever ordered it was served more like a sirloin with delicious browned melted cheese on top. It came with a side of pasta with marinara sauce and from the first bite I was lost it was so delicious, better than I had ever had before. Oh and the meatballs and ricotta...Indescribable...Yummm! Upon settling our check, I decided to ask why isn't there a lasagna on your menu? Our server politely said... we make it from scratch and serve it fresh as a special. I waited a week and called up and said I was coming, "Is lasagna on special?" They said yes...when I got there I must say it was worth the wait! The portion was amazing and the flavor was divine. I had it for lunch the next day too! This is a family owned restaurant and everyone is so helpful and goes the extra mile to make the experience wonderful. This is definitely one of our go to places from now on.

The salad dressing a homemade Italian vingererrte is amazing. I want the recipe ! I ordered the broccoli with penne and added chicken. Really nice portion came with bread, and a salad for $18. If you are in the area looking for good Italian food not to pricey this is a great little spot in a strip mall.

This place is a real gem! It's a quaint, little, very homey kind of restaurant with old fashioned decor and values. My friend and I frequent the Chinese place next door and though, why not? Were both very, very glad we decided to try it. I had chicken marsala with a side of Ziti and extra marsala sauce, my friend had mahi francesa. We both loved our meals! The portions were very fair, the meat/fish were cooked perfectly and they even started us with bread and salad before we ordered. It's not often you find an old fashioned restaurant that makes their own bread and salad dressing without having to pay more for the meal. It was very fairly priced and the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. I will definitely be coming to this place again and certainly will be recommending it to friends. If you're in the area and in the mood for high end Italian at mid level pricing check this place out!

Had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo it was delicious, being from Jersey, I've had good Fra Diavolo. This was as good as any I've ever had. My friend had a pork chop special that was excellent as well. There are few places in Florida for good Italian food, this is definitely one of them. The atmosphere was very family like and incredibly attentive, the ladies circled around the dining room making sure everyone was taken care of. I highly recommend this place.

Whenever I travel to SoFla there are only two things I have to do. Seeing friends and family and going to Mundi's. Mundi's is tucked in the corner of a Publix shopping center about a mile from Ft Lauderdale airport (perfect if you have a couple of hours layover) and as an aficionado of authentic Italian cuisine you cannot do better. Sunday night we started with a nice Tuscan red, reasonably priced along with mussels in white wine sauce. They were medium-large sized and seasoned to taste. Friend is a red sauce kind of guy but he loved them as well. Dinner was daily special (they had three that night) chicken scarpariello (deboned). We shared a massive plate and it was the best I ever had which is pretty much what happens every time I go there. The staff are family and the service is excellent. I'm almost hesitant to post this because I like to keep these finds to a small circle but you cannot go wrong at Mundi's. Eat slow and enjoy!

I was pleasantly surprised how amazing it was as I expected your generic out of the box vino. What a way to start dinner! Both dishes were flavorful & plentiful. Mundi's is old school New York Italian. The place is small, yet rustic. Will Mundi is both the owner and the chef. The food was amazing and wonderfully comforting: freshly baked Italian bread, complimentary salad with homemade Italian dressing and picked peppers. Our party of five ordered his original calamari with what tasted like Buffalo Sauce and olives. Must have! I had clam with white sauce that tasted just like the ocean. The owner ended us with homemade zeppolas- Italian donuts. Go there often and he'll do the same once he recognizes you. He made sure I was stuffed to the brim! One of the best customer service I've ever gotten. Must go back!

If only... Mundi's could have a good rating. The food was pretty darned good. Yes, it's the same Italian menu you get at about every Italian place you go to, but the execution is spot on for a place that wants to serve home cooked style meals. The atmosphere is warm and again, like eating in someone's home. But the service is just not there. The place is small, but more than the one person handling orders on our visit could manage. The result - long waits for everything. I ordered a glass of wine and was never asked if I wanted another. No one ever asked if the food was good once they dropped it off at the table (it was good). No offer for dessert. Alas, to knock down a place that has good food and nice ambiance is a shame, but without good service I can't recommend a restaurant.

I feel truly horrible since I really did want to love Mundi's. The location is hidden is the corner or a shopping center, which has frequently led to the find of a spectacular hole-in-the-wall. We came on a weeknight for my mother's birthday dinner, and the dining area was filled with locals, a great sign. The staff made the rounds, greeting everyone and making an effort to make them feel like part of the family. Red and white checkered tablecloths, lots of festive art work, ivy dotted trellises, it was the epitome of your stereotypical Italian restaurant. As soon as we were seated they brought out a generous portion of thick, crusty bread and a plate of olive oil blanketed by Parmesan cheese. I haven't seen this done very often at authentic restaurants, but I must say it made for a welcome addition as the soft inner portion of each slice sopped it up scrumptiously. They also left a bottle of red wine on each table when you entered, perhaps in an attempt to entice you. Unfortunately that was pretty much where my excitement ran out. The menu felt VERY Americanized, with calamari, mozzarella sticks and Caesar salad rounding out the appetizers. The pasta menu was fairly basic variations on spaghetti and penne, served with a red, white or pink sauce, plus a baked ziti and cheese ravioli option. No gnocchi, no carbonara, no lasagna, no risotto. I am still hoping their pastas are actually homemade, but unfortunately that wasn't the impression I had, nor did this change upon actually seeing the dishes in person. Not bad, just overpriced for what it was, a dish that even the most unskilled cook could have managed themselves with a quick trip to the market for a box of Barilla and jar of Ragu. I've dated Italian men that have difficulty boiling water but I dare say even they could have figured out how to make these dishes. Chicken Piccata, Chicken Francese, Chicken Marsala...the rest of the menu didn't exactly pique my interest either. Again it just felt like a restaurant trying to offer what they thought Italian should be, rather than to use authentic family recipes passed down through the generations. I'm not saying you can't find these things in Italy, but even the basic dishes there were made in such a way that you could feel the passion for cooking. I went with the eggplant parm, and asked for the rosa sauce rather than the tomato since the menu had described it as an old family recipe seasoned with fresh basil. IMO fresh basil can salvage even the most banal dish, and I was really excited to try it. The waitress told me this wouldn't be a problem and put the order in. I tried to get a side salad in lieu of pasta but was told that wasn't an option but I could purchase an additional salad. I wasn't too hungry so just went with it as it was. However, when the dish came out with a red sauce, I inquired again about the rosa. I don't know if it was just a miscommunication or what but the guy just kind of shook his head, said no problem and walked away without changing anything. After about 15 minutes, I gave up and dug in. The eggplant was fine but a bit mushy. It was smothered in gooey cheese though, which makes everything taste a significantly better. Alongside the main, I got a heaping portion of spaghetti topped in more red sauce. It wasn't bad but again nothing I couldn't easily make with a store-bought variety. I do have to say though, my mom's selection of Tilapia Ala Chef Will (a mild white fish sauteed and topped with a garlic shrimp sauce, seasoned with sun-dried tomatoes and basil served over penne pasta) was a slight improvement. The penne still tasted like the boxed variety and the fish was redolent of that tinny twang you get when a fish isn't incredibly fresh, but the sauce at least seemed to have been made to order, and it was flavorful and delicious. The portions of everything were so large that we all had plenty of leftovers. This may be one of the only times I'll say this, bigger is not always better. Buffering a mediocre quality entree with a huge mound of filling spaghetti hardly a decent meal makes. I really did love the staff and their courteous and helpful attitude, I just wish I hadn't felt so underwhelmed by the actual food. Please don't mistake my opinions as absolute fact, I have no concrete evidence that the penne and spaghetti aren't made in house. That being said, I just didn't get that authentic or unique flavor that made me want to rush back or sing its praises.

Looking for a good place for pizza one night for take out. Looked at there website through the yelp link and the food and reviews looked good. So we decided to give it a try. We called them up and found out they don't do pizza anymore . What type of Italian restaurant does not do pizza? And had an expired link on there google search website. We said forget it after that. Come on I have never seen an an Italian restaurant without pizza. Maybe we would give this a try later but this was a definite turnoff

Incredible homemade Italian. Even better service First off, shame on me for not providing this review sooner. We were traveling from Jamaica to California on 9/11/13 and found Mundi's on yelp as we had some time to kill before our next flight and we did not want airport food. The reviews were good so we hopped in a cab for the short 1.3 mile drive. We had a horrible experience with the cabbie so we hopped out and managed to walk to Mundi's suitcase in tow. We arrived at this point not so happy and with little expectations for the dinner. WOW were we surprised. We told the owner about our 45 minute ride costing over $20 for the 1 mile journey and not only did she show concern and disappointment about the situation but she renewed our faith in this community. She contacted the cab company and like a protective mother "tore them a new one". The Mayor should proclaim a Mundi's saved our tourism day! The owner told us not to worry they will arrange for our return taxi no problem. So we relaxed and ordered dinner. Already experiencing fantastic service this far, we were blown away with how incredible the food was. Eggplant and shrimp parm. Outstanding! Although the food can speak for itself and deserves a 5 star review on its own the level of service was amazing. So after dinner we are waiting for the taxi. You guessed it no taxi. So what does the restaurant do? Owner and chef takes off his cooking apron and tosses our suitcase and the four of us in his car and drives us to the airport where we were able to make it onto our flight home. You can't make up experiences like this and you can't train true care for your customers like we experienced. We feel like extended family. The four of us thank you and we can't wait to return. We will always go there when in town. Have you thought about a second location in California?

Stopped in for dinner tonight while traveling - I wish we had a cozy Italian spot like this near our home in Atlanta! Everything was freshly made and fantastic, and the price was very reasonable. I'd make a special trip to eat here again next time I'm near Port Everglades I liked it so much. We started with the clams appetizer in a garlic wine sauce and it was extremely tender and succulent - everybody at the table just dug right in. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and I could tell from the moment my plate arrived that these were freshly prepared and cooked. I've made my own meatballs at home for decades and these were easily as good as any I've ever done. My father-in-law had the special spicy shrimp and sausage and it was very tasty - we both left our plates cleaned. For dessert they had a homemade ricotta cheesecake that was fluffy and wonderful - a perfect ending to one of the best Italian meals I've had in years. Perfect example of a hole-in-the-wall with amazing food.

tucked away in the winn dixie shopping center, this family owned Italian restaurant serves up creative Italian fare, pizza and salads all fresh and reasonably priced. the pasta anna - a house special has just the right amount of zest, topped with shrimp or sausage or chicken; appetizers (we like having a pizza as a starter, and house salad with the entree and a carafe of house wine. the wonderful staff usually serves fresh zeppoles gratis with the order of espresso; Really nothing fancy about the place or food, it's just very good, ambiamce is chatrming and one feels like family when dining there. The owner comes by to chat and when he learned we were from NY, we talked about Arthur Ave.

Small little Italian restaurant, good food...The calamari was good and the chicken parm is also good (enough to split for two) Like I said the place is small and really not the best place to bring 3 kids (two families) as the owner came over and shushed us. You can't say in your description that your place is good for kids and then expect them to be perfect 100% of the time. I would probably go back, but without the kids...maybe.

Feels like you're in Italy! I had the stuffed Eggplant and it was soooo GOOD! I took my boyfriend's family whom is of Italian Decent and they fell in love with MUNDIS. The owner is always mingling around the restaurant asking everyone if the are content with food drinks etc. - It seems to be family owned so you can feel thelove in the air. This place is seriously Dee-lish!

I am sorry but honesty is so important. Mundi's was a great place but it has faltered now as less than a Papa Gino's or less. So sad. Something has gone very wrong. The food is not creative or expressive any more. It is Hunts canned sauce with Ronzoni pasta or less

We went on YELP on Friday night to search for a local Italian place in Dania Beach. We read the reviews and decided to try Mundi's. Well, we had a terrific time. All tables were taken. The owner greeted us at the door with his white apron on. He explained it would be a few minutes. After 5 minutes he invited us back to his small bar area and served us some of his house wine, which was pretty good. He engaged us in conversation, and was really into the discussion. We sat down about 15 minutes later and went on to enjoy a very good dinner. The service was terrific. The prices very reasonable. We will be going back....I highly recommend this place.

Whoever wrote that negative review to bring down the stars must not have taste buds because Mundi's has to be one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. It was located in a shopping center which originally threw me off but as soon as I sat down and saw the menu I knew it was going to be a great experience. It is family owned and operated so they're extremely hospitable and will really make you whatever you want and the menu acts as a guide. The food was amazing and there were so many options (for everyone from my 12 year old sister to my grandparents.) It's a checkerboard table cloth, authentic Italian restaurant run by actual Italians which is rare to see in South Florida. Since It's in Dania Beach and nobody really vacations there, it was all locals. What really made me love it, though was that the waitress was extremely chatty and it was almost like eating dinner at a friend's house but they were waiting on you; something I had never experienced in Florida before. There are so many restaurants in the area just out to take your money and this was the opposite experience of eating at any of those. Expensive but worth it!

Wonderful, fresh food with friendly attentive service. We called at 645 on a Saturday night, looking for a table for 4 and they couldn't have been nicer. The server recommended the eggplant parm, which was to die for, fresh, firm, flavorful. The cheese and pear filled pasta was also sublime. They treated our young children like princesses, and within half an hour of when we sat down, the place was completely full, apparently with regulars. The food was little Italy, not Italy Italy, but you won't care.

Awesome! My future brother in law took me here as for a celebratory dinner. My first impression of the place was "cozy, family owned restaurant" and that is exactly what it was. It seemed like everyone dining there knew everyone else and the owner and his wife were constantly making rounds asking how things were. I do not normally eat Italian food and wasnt sure what I was in the mood for. How did I decide? Well the owner sat down next to me and started firing away foods that he figured I might like in order to gauge my taste and in the end recommended clams and shrimp in a spicy sauce over pasta. This wasnt even on the menu and he simply made it to please me!! Amazing! To start we got the bread and olive oil which I believe is standard and ordered a side of mushrooms which were awesome. We shared a bottle of wine (recommended by the owner) which was great and complimented our dinner perfectly. I cannot wait to go back to try the caldo. I totally recommend this place. A++

The Mussels in red and white wine sauce are an absolute dream, and if you excuse the pretentiousness, reminds me of the Island of Capris in Italy. The owner/chef is from New York and very very friendly and spends his time making sure you're all having a good time. The spicy sausage and shrimp pasta dish is a dream Service is great and they're great with kids.

I have been on an Italian kick lately and this definitely hit the spot! Don't let the location scare you off as the shopping center is a bit outdated and not very appealing to the eye. The inside of Mundi's is a whole different story! This place is the definition of a mom and pop shop. It is very cozy with not very many tables and the owners are always there to greet you and chat. You can't ask for better service. Everyone here treats you like family. The food is excellent! The pasta is fresh and delicious and all dishes come with a salad (homemade dressing - yum!) and fresh baked bread. The Penne alla vodka sauce is to die for - I added the chicken but could have easily just eaten it with the pasta and been completely satisfied. So good! This is the perfect spot for a family style dinner or even a cute date night. I highly recommend!
